This is a super easy spaghetti sauce recipe that tastes like it’s taken forever to make. It is great on homemade pizzas so keep some on hand in a mason jar. Should last a week in the fridge but you could also freeze it.
Chop garlic cloves and fresh basil (if you don’t have fresh basil you can use dried and add it to the oil in pan).
Heat the garlic and basil up in a little olive oil. Add your tomato PASTE, I use the paste because it’s naturally more sugar free and it makes much more.
Add in salt, oregano (dried), a little onion powder, and sweetener to taste. Some like it sweet, some don’t but a little sweetener helps cut the bitterness of the tomato paste. Add water and stir.
Let this simmer for 15 to 20 minutes or longer on low. You can use this to make pizza sauce. YUM!!!
I use this sauce for most all my Trim Healthy Mama meals that call for spaghetti sauce. Really I just tweaked my own spaghetti sauce to fit my Trim Healthy Mama Lifestyle! That’s how easy Trim Healthy Mama is! So adaptable! I make my pizzas on Joseph Lavash Breads. I love those! I like slightly crunch crust so I bake these a little longer and they are so delish! You can mostly find them at Walmart in the deli section by the pitas or you can order the breads and pitas directly from the company or from www.netrition.com as well. Just a little bit of info for ya!
QUICK & EASY SPAGHETTI SAUCE
Ingredients:
1 small can of tomato paste
3 cloves of garlic chopped
small handful of fresh clean basil chopped
1 tsp of Olive Oil
2 cups or more of water
1 tsp of onion powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 to 1 tsp of sweetener (I used Truvia)
1 tsp of Oregano
Directions:
Chop your garlic and basil. Heat a pan with 1 tsp of olive oil. Saute the garlic and basil in the oil. Add your tomato paste. Mix in your spices, salt and sweetener. Add water. Turn heat to low and simmer for at least 15 minutes or longer. The longer it goes the more flavor immerges. Use this sauce for pizzas, spaghetti, etc. You can double or triple it and save it by freezing or putting in an airtight container in your fridge. Should keep at least a week. ENJOY!!

Hi,
Great website!
I am new to THM.
Is this an S, E or FP?
Sarah says
The sauce would be an FP! 🙂 It could be fp with ground lean turkey meat or an S with ground beef.

Hi! Was searching for a THM spaghetti sauce and decided on yours since you have a reputation of great THM recipes (um, cowboy cookies!:). Question: did you add water to the paste (I’m assuming not since it doesn’t say to)? Just thinking it would be quite dry for a pizza sauce but perhaps cooking it “loosens” it up a bit? Thx!
Sarah says
I need to add that I do add a little water to loosen it up! Thank you for telling me!!

Could you can use tomato sauce in place of water and paste? Just happens to be what I have on hand.
Sarah says
Yes! That should work!! 🙂

Yum!! TBH, I didn’t have high hopes for this recipe because the ingredients are so simple. This was very good! I added 1/2 tsp. gluccie, a bay leaf, extra spices, and some crushed red pepper. I also used dried basil because that is what I had on hand. I made it thick, sweet, and spicy. My teens even loved it! Thank you so much!

I am so glad to hear this!! 🙂
