Hey Guys, I am giving you a sample of what I might get at the grocery store for two weeks for of Trim Healthy Mama. I won’t get this every single week but this is my typical grocery list. I will have most of this and not need it every single week or two weeks. For this list I might make the following:
Roast or stew, baked chicken, chicken and brown rice soup, tacos, spaghetti spaghetti squash casserole, taco soup, fajitas, pizza ( a couple times), baked fish, chicken tortilla soup, baked chicken breasts or chicken casserole, lentil soup, chicken white bean soup.
*** NOTE: I also want to clarify, we have 6 kids ages 12, 8, 6, 4, 2 and newborn, along with my husband and I. So this won’t feed 7-8 adults for sure! You would need to adjust for that. Also, I usually spend around $200-$250 a week so this would be around the $400 mark give or take. Sometimes I shop weekly sometimes I wait and shop every two weeks. But this is my go-to THM grocery items! 🙂 Hope this helps out! 🙂

How much approximately do you spend a month on groceries for a family of 7? We are a family of 5 with a very hungry with a hole in his foot, athletic 15 year old. Your recipes and menu plans look great!
Sarah says
We spend about $200-$250 a week on groceries but that is all paper goods, cleaning products, diapers, etc… not just food. We have a 12 year old & and 8 year old that eat as much as we do and the littles SNACK ALL THE TIME, haha!! 🙂

I’m just starting my thm journey an we are a family of 6 so this list is great. My question is do you have or could you make a sample menu of what you do with these groceries? I’m very overwhelmed and do not want to give up or say its not worth it. That would help a lot if you don’t mind! Thank you
Sarah says
Hey yes, I will try to revise this later (after my baby is born) and give more of a menu to go with this list but here ya go… Roast or stew, baked chicken, chicken & brown rice soup, tacos, spaghetti, taco soup, fajitas, pizza (a couple times), baked fish, chicken tortilla soup, baked chicken breasts, or chicken casserole, lentil soup, chicken white bean soup. These are kind of my go to recipes!
Faith says
What is your cost on a trip like this?
Sarah says
Hmmm… I spend around $200-$250 a week, if I buy weekly. Now, I don’t buy everything on that list weekly or even every two weeks. It’s just my basic list. I’m not exactly so on what the total would be for everything. Sorry I cannot be more helpful with that. Do you think it would help to maybe post my list/menu/total for my grocery visit? I am thinking of doing that on my facebook page. 🙂

Would it be possible in the future to include a picture in your post so that it is pinable? Thank you! I appreciate you sharing your THM journey with us.
Sarah says
YES! I will work on that! Thank you for the reminder!! 🙂
Sherri says
Thank you so much for this fantastic list! I’ve tried to pin it, but Pinterest doesn’t want to play right 😉 because there’s no ‘pinable photo’. Could you add a photo, please? Happy Thanksgiving!
Sarah says
Ah you are so right!! I need to do that… I will try to do that today!!
Sarah says
Ok, I updated it to include a picture!! 🙂
