Bacon Garlic Green Beans!! YES, BACON!!! What isn’t good with bacon??!! These are good enough to eat by themselves… I ate a bunch before putting it with dinner. This makes a wonderful Trim Healthy Mama side dish with oven baked chicken (with the skin on, of course) or steak or pork chop even!
Getting started… heat a big pot up and add your chopped bacon and garlic!
Allow the bacon to cook through completely but not crispy!
In another pot, boil water. Add your frozen green beans. Bring back to a boil and boil till it still has a little crunch to it. Maybe boil 5 minutes.
Drain the water off the green beans then run cold water over the green beans.
Add green beans to the pan with bacon and garlic. Add your spices! Mix well and allow to cook another 5 to 10 minutes depending on how done you like your green beans! Salt & Pepper to taste!
This is an S side dish you follow Trim Healthy Mama!! This was eaten up quickly.

Ingredients:
16 oz of frozen green beans
3 to 4 slices of good quality bacon (with out the nitrates)
3 cloves of garlic
water to boil
spices
salt & pepper
Directions:
Heat water to a boil. Chop your bacon and garlic and put in another pan. Cook till done but not crispy. Place the frozen green beans in the boiling water and bring back to a boil for about 5 to 10 minutes. Pour off water and spray down with cold water. Add green beans to bacon and garlic and continue to cook for 5 to 10 minutes longer. Add spices, salt and pepper. YUM!!
When I was a much younger version of me, way back in the early 70’s, my mom made these and called them “groovy” beans so that we’d eat them. Of course, she used canned green beans and garlic salt. Love this healthier version!
Sarah, Sarah, Sarah!! Wow! We grilled steaks tonight with yellow squash and mushrooms (all my favs.) I decided to try these beans tonight because they sounded so yummy!! Your beans were the best part of the meal!!! I could have eaten just them and been so happy. I did add half an onion and used my home canned beans. The leftovers will be my lunch Monday if I can keep my husband out of them tomorrow!! Does your family understand how wonderful they have it? Of course they do, they eat at your table. Thanks for another wonderful recipe!
OH I am so so so glad!! haha I ate most of them before they even got to the plate! Thank you, I am blushing!! 🙂
Sarah, as I was making your garlic bean again (yep, they didn’t make it till Mon.) I thought, “I bet yellow squash cooked this way would be good too!” I was right! Cubed summer squash and cooked until tender! Delish!
OH WOW that sounds good!!!!
Hi! This sounds delicious. Just curious, what kind of spices do you add to it? I’m kind of new to cooking so specifics really help me. Thanks! 🙂
WE LOVE CAJUN! I usually use a Cajun spice. Red pepper, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt.
MMMM. love this!
We love our green beans with bacon and garlic! I make them this way a lot when they are fresh from the garden, but it works for our home-canned beans, too.
I made this tonight and they were absolutely amazing! My whole family loved them! Thank you for sharing this recipe.
